A few hours ago, the 3rd episode of Ahsoka was released on Disney+. The latest adventure from the Star Wars universe provides, above all, with a large Action scene in space caused a stir that put Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) in distress.

They are being pursued by Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) and several henchmen. While escaping, Ahsoka and Sabine encounter a group of gigantic whale-like creatures gliding through a dense fog. These space whales are purrgils. They are very special Star Wars creatures.

The Purrgils are from the Star Wars Rebels animated series. They have their first appearance in the 15th episode of the 2nd season completed, which aired in February 2016. Since then, Star Wars fans have wondered if we’ll one day see the sometimes controversial whales in a live-action project.

The 3rd season of The Mandalorian already gave us a glimpse of the Purrgils when the little Grogu with his Mando dad flew through hyperspace. At that time, however, the Purrgils were only recognizable as silhouettes. Now we get to see her in all her glory and as part of an action scene.

The arrival of space whales in the live-action sector of the Star Wars universe has been teased for quite a while. The bluish-purple beings are particularly important to Ahsoka’s storyline, because through the Inhalation of Clouzon-36 gas they can fly through hyperspace – and into other galaxies.

Star Wars characters have traveled through hyperspace for millennia. But without the Purrgils they would have never found the routes, connecting distant star systems, as explained by droid Huyang. The path to the mysterious Peridea galaxy where Thrawn and Ezra Bridger are stuck is also on a Purrgil route.
