The Star Wars books, set during the High Republic, provide fascinating information about the origin of the hyperspace routes. Star Wars characters have traveled through hyperspace for millennia. But without the Purrgils they would have never found the routes, connecting distant star systems, as explained by droid Huyang. The path to the mysterious Peridea galaxy where Thrawn and Ezra Bridger are stuck is also on a Purrgil route.
