Star Wars series canceled on Disney+ after just one season – there were 2 big problems

Star Wars series canceled on Disney after just one season

Star Wars continues, but not as part of the series The Acolyte on Disney+. Deadline reports this, citing a decision by Lucasfilm.

The format by showrunner Leslye Headland started with a strong audience, but had two major problems: It fell short of expectations in terms of viewer numbers during the first season, and divided the fans. This went so far that the series was bombarded with negative reviews, partly for regressive reasons.

Star Wars: The Acolyte on Disney+: What was it actually about?

The Acolyte takes place 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace in the era of the High Republic. The Jedi are very powerful at this time. However, when Jedi Master Sol (Jung-Jae Lee) investigates a mysterious murder with his former Padawan Mae (Amandla Stenberg), they come across sinister secrets and machinations of the dark side of the force.

Eight episodes were produced and are available to stream on Disney+, as are the five previous series The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Andor and Star Wars: Ahsoka.

And that’s not all…

The next Star Wars series is already in the starting blocks

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes the lightsaber like a baton from The Acolyte and continues directly on Disney+. December 3, 2024 It will start with the coming-of-age story of a group of children who try to get home after the fall of the Galactic Empire.

Behind the series with Jude Law and a lot of young stars are Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, among others, who are already old hands in the Star Wars franchise.
