NHL Network has once again ranked the league’s best defensemen.
On the list is of course Victor Hedman – but also another Swede.
– He is unique, says Ken Daneyko.

After the NHL season has come to an end, NHL Networks usually ranks the very best players of the season at all positions. And considering the over 80 Swedes who play in the league, of course several take their place.

Hedman among the very foremost

The list of the best centers included the trio Mika Zibanejad, Elias Pettersson and Elias Lindholm. Now it’s time for the best backs and it’s no big deal that star Victor Hedman has a place.

The 31-year-old ends up in second place, behind Stanley Cup winner Cale Makar, and former defenseman Ken Daneyko justifies the decision like this:

– He (Hedman) has always been near the top of these lists in recent years. For me, he is a really great all-round defender and completely unique for his size, he tells NHL.com.

Crazy score results

Victor Hedman finished third in the NHL defensemen’s scoring with 85 points, including 20 goals and 65 assists. The Swede’s Tampa Bay Lightning were close to winning their third straight Stanley Cup – but the Colorado Avalanche were far too heavy in the finals.

There is also another Swede on the list. It is none other than Rasmus Dahlin who is ranked as the NHL’s 18th best back.

– He looks very good on the ice and had a fantastic year. I expect him to only get better and better, says Ken Daneyko.
