The first season of Star Trek: Discovery had two stars when it was released in 2017: Michelle Yeoh and Jason Isaacs. While Yeoh’s Georgiou became a staple of the series for several seasons, audiences were forced to say goodbye to the former Malfoy leader in the Season 1 finale. In an interview, Jason Isaacs has now revealed that there are talks about a Return to the sci-fi universe are.
Here’s what Jason Isaacs reveals about returning to Star Trek
First, a quick reminder: There were two Lorcas in Star Trek Discovery, one Prime Lorca and one from the mirror universe.

Lorca
In season one, it was revealed that Mirror Lorca replaced and posed as his Prime counterpart. In the finale, however, the mirror captain was killed. But what about Prime Lorca? It is not known whether he is alive or not. In an interview with The List, Jason Isaacs was asked about it. At first he answers vaguely:
Is the door closed to Prime Lorca? That’s what the internet is asking, of course.
Isaacs is then asked if he can get one Return to Star Trek could imagine. He has one condition:
Sure, yes. The story should be great. It was an amazing storyline. Everything an actor wants is a secret and I had the biggest secret ever […].
But it doesn’t stop there. Isaacs has previously discussed this with Akiva Goldsman, who is involved with Discovery, Picard and Strange New Worlds:
I’m currently working with Akiva Goldsman [….] on a Tom Holland miniseries called The Crowded Room in New York. We talked about Prime Lorca and it would have to be a story as good as Discovery Season 1. The actor does not want to return at any price
Isaacs explains his motivation for returning like this:
I don’t want to return just because […] Lorca is a fan favorite and play a version of it that isn’t remotely as good. […] Strange New Worlds is a big hit and Picard is a big hit though if there’s room for an arc over Prime Lorca, I’m in.
He summarizes:
I don’t want to come back just to squeeze into this ultra tight uniform. In which series could Captain Lorca return?
The obvious series for Captain Lorca to return isn’t Discovery, it’s Strange New Worlds. Discovery is set far in the future from the events of the Season 2 finale. The must-see new series Star Trek: Strange New Words, on the other hand, takes place before the events of Discovery Season 1.
There is however two problems for a return in SNW: In the interview, Jason Isaacs explicitly speaks of an arc, ie a story that extends over several episodes. The story of the youngest offspring of the Star Trek family follows the example of the Starship Enterprise. Each episode consists of a new adventure. That might be difficult to reconcile with Isaac’s desire.
But there is one more another possibility for the return of Lorca: a new series. Given how much the sci-fi universe has grown since Discovery launched in 2017, this option cannot be ruled out.
