Armand Duplantis has once again been praised.
The star took home the award for “Honorary Award of the Year” 2022.
– He is a role model, reads the motivation.
Armand Duplantis is one of the world’s greatest athletes at the moment. Despite his 22 young years, he jumps higher than anyone else, and is truly a pioneer right now for the entire sport.
New world record
During his short career so far, the Swede has taken pole vaulting to a whole new level, where he has broken his own world record several times. Last March, he jumped 6.20 meters and broke the world record for the third time.
He also has other great merits on his CV. He has won the noblest medal in both the Olympics and the World Cup, and is a crazy favorite to take a new gold in the World Athletics Championships later this summer.
For just a few weeks, it was clear that he would get an Avesta record. This means that he is in the city’s “Walk of Fame”, next to Tony Rickardsson and Nicklas Lidström, among others.
Gets a new price
Now he is praised again – and this time in Uppsala. The prize was awarded by the governor and goes to a person who has contributed with significant contributions to the cultural, social or business life in the county.
And it is no less than Armand Duplantis, a resident of Uppsala IF, who receives the award this year.
“With drive and energy, pole vaulter and world record holder Armand Duplantis has lifted both himself and the county to higher heights. Through his commitment and his enthusiasm, he is a role model for new generations to take the step into the world of athletics, not least in his first Swedish hometown, Uppsala. ”Reads the motivation.
