Armand Duplantis has won everything there is to win.
At the time, many feared that the 22-year-old’s motivation would drop – but the star is putting it down.
– There are no problems, he says
It has almost been a month since Armand Duplantis won World Cup gold in the USA. The Swede was responsible for a fabulous final – where, in addition to the gold, he broke the championship record but also a new world record of 6.21 meters.
“No big problem”
When “Mondo” now has a WC gold on his merit list, the Swede has won everything that can be won. And after the world championship, the 22-year-old’s mother, Helena Duplantis, was worried that her son would find it difficult to recharge after the big discharge.
On Thursday morning, Armand Duplantis steps into the EC in Germany when the men’s pole vault starts. The big star tells SVT Sport that he has no problem finding motivation.
– Right now it’s great fun competing and trying to jump as high as I can. It feels easy to find motivation. It’s not a big problem, says “Mondo”.
Aiming for a new record
There is no doubt that Duplantis is the big favorite during the EC. The Swede tells us that he is aiming for new records and wants to give the audience a great show.
– WC in Eugene was a pretty good jump. It was the right place and good weather, everything was good. But there is more to the idea, he says.
