According to media reports, NHL forward Milan Lucic was arrested on Saturday morning.
NHL champion, Stanley Cup winner Milan Lucic has been suspended and sidelined for the time being from the activities of his team, the Boston Bruins. The club confirmed the matter to the NHL according to the website.
According to media reports, the 35-year-old Canadian attacker is suspected of domestic violence.
– The Boston Bruins are aware of Milan Lucic’s Friday night incident. He is out of the team for the time being. The organization takes these matters very seriously and we are working with Lucic’s family to provide them with the support and help they need. We will not comment further at this time, the Boston Bruins commented.
Lucic last played on October 21 and has been sidelined since with a leg injury. The head coach Tim Montgomery had told at the beginning of the week that the recovery has gone slower than hoped.
Montgomery and the Bruins captain, Lucic’s longtime teammate Brad Marchand said they have not spoken to Lucic since Friday. The two gave comments to the media during their next match, as Boston will face Montreal Finland time on the night between Saturday and Sunday.
– Of course, we are aware of what happened last night. The biggest thing for us is that we care a lot about their family. We are family here. We are all very, very close. So we’re obviously very worried and upset for them. We support Brittany (Lucic’s wife), their children and Milan, Marchand said.
Marchand added that he does not know all the details and would not say more about the situation out of respect for Lucic’s family.
– Of course, I have known “Looch” (Milan Lucic’s nickname) for a long time. He’s a very good friend of mine and it’s hard to see a teammate and a friend and his family go through things like this. We are really worried about Brittany, their kids kids and Looch but they have all the support in the world. We are here for them.
Lucic started his career with the Bruins in the 2007-2008 season. He played for Boston for eight seasons, including 2011 when Boston won the Stanley Cup. Between 2015 and 2023, Lucic played for the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames. He returned to Boston for this season.
Lucic has played 1177 games in the NHL regular season with 233+353=586 power points.
Last spring, Lucic played in Canada’s World Cup team as a 2+2 when the maple leaf jerseys celebrated the world championship in Tampere.
