Standard Ethics, 33% of large Italian listed companies have a high ESG rating

ESMA will initiate supervisory action on MiFID II sustainability requirements

(Finance) – Most of the large Italian companies listed companies assessed by Standard Ethics has gradually reached a Sustainable Grade. Today, 67% of the constituents of the SE Italian Index have at least an “EE-” level, compared to 27% in 2004. In 2024 The 33% achieved a high rating (EE+). We can read this in a report by the independent rating agency based in London and focused on sustainability, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, having started its activities in 2004 with a test on the Italian market.

The data indicates “the prevalence, in the ESG context, of actions that are more linear and consistent with international objectives compared to 2004” and the agency’s long-term outlook remains positive. Standard Ethics ratings are based on a scale that includes 9 letter grades, with any rating equal to or greater than “EE-” indicating good compliance. The ratings of Standard Ethics measure the alignment of companies with the international recommendations on Sustainability provided by the EU, the OECD and the United Nations.
