Stalked and raped a woman in Gothenburg – sentenced

The man pursued the woman from a bus stop and into a side street in central Gothenburg. There he strangled her and bit her in the face before raping her.

Now the man, who is 25 years old, is sentenced to closed forensic psychiatric care with a special discharge examination by the Gothenburg District Court. He is convicted at the same time for four other cases of sexual harassment on board buses in the Gothenburg area.

– It has been important for us to get this person off the streets, says Ellicka Adolfsson of the serious crime section in Greater Gothenburg to Göteborgs-Posten.

During the incident, the woman manages to alert the police and the man was arrested when he tried to flee the scene. The man has not participated in any interrogations and thus neither admitted nor denied the acts.

According to the court, the cumulative penalty value for the acts corresponds to imprisonment for three years and two months. The man must also pay damages of almost SEK 170,000 to the woman. The court, however, rejected the prosecutor’s request for deportation.
