Participating in the Melodifestivalen has become increasingly expensive, and sometimes SVT’s contribution is not enough. For the former “Love is Blind” participant and artist Meira Omar Has the costs shone considerably.

Meira Omar’s scenography in Mello – so much it costs
In Meira Omar’s stage number, a custom -built table is in focus. The table has mirror effects and is designed in specific dimensions and materials to be able to easily move in and out of the stage. The price for the table was SEK 110,000 plus VAT – which means that only SEK 25,000 remains of SVT’s contribution.
The custom -built table is only a small part of the total cost of the scene number. Expenses for, among other things, stage clothes, dancers, rehearsals, LED graphics and pyrotechnics are also added. Meira’s number ends with a spectacular silver rain, which is one of the more expensive pyrotechnic effects. The price depends on how long the rain lasts.

Who pays?
Many complain that the Melodifestival’s number looks less lavish today than ten years ago. This is partly due to the fact that the costs for, among other things, props have increased sharply. When SVT’s contribution does not cover the costs, someone else must pay. In many cases, it is the record label that goes in with the money, but sometimes the artist himself has to make the dream number to become a reality.
When the competition is over, much of the scenography is usually scrapped or reused. After the competition, Meira Omar and her team will keep the scenography, but it also has to have some place to store it.
