Staff at the mental institution in Umeå were threatened with knives and kicked – charged

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It was in November this year that the man entered the psychiatric hospital by threatening an employee with a knife. Once inside the ward, he is said to have taken a slight strangle hold on a woman in the staff and then kicked her repeatedly in the head. The woman managed to protect herself with her arms, but still suffered a head injury.

Threatened more people with the knife

After the suspected assault, the man allegedly continued to rampage in the department and threatened more of the staff, punched one in the face and tore down computer screens and overturned furnishings. One of the staff describes in questioning that he got the feeling that the man could kill him or his colleagues if he wanted to.

When a security guard arrived at the department and urged the man to drop the knife, he obeyed and soon the police were able to arrest the man on the spot.

Wanted to get rid of diagnoses

Now the 30-year-old is charged with grossly unlawful threats, two counts of assault and damage after the incident at the psychiatric hospital. He has pleaded guilty to all charges except aggravated unlawful threatening. In questioning, the man says that the reason he visited the psychiatric hospital with a knife was to be taken seriously and to get rid of diagnoses made by staff there earlier.
