There were five cows and a newborn calf in the stable, and a large rescue effort with 20 firefighters, seven of whom from a special group from Malmö, was sent to the scene.
The calf was first feared dead when it was lying on the floor with boards over it.
— When they touched the calf’s ear, it stood up by itself. This was an accident with a happy ending, says Mats Nilsson, internal commander at the Southern Rescue Service, to Ystad’s Allehanda.
After securing a wall and rafters, a hole could be sawn in the roof, through which all the animals could be led out unharmed after a five-hour effort.
