The police officer who was injured in connection with an operation in Jönköping on Sunday no longer has life-threatening injuries, as reported by Expressen.

– I have received information that the situation with the injured police officer is still serious but stable, says Johnny Gustafsson, press spokesperson at the police, to TT.

It was on Sunday that the police were alerted about a 35-year-old man who was aggressive. The man then left his residence with some type of attachment and went to a wooded area nearby, where a tumultuous situation arose.

The man allegedly attacked and injured a police officer with a sharp knife and also tried to injure another, who fired his service weapon and hit the man.

The police are tight-lipped about what exactly led up to the incident.

– I am quite convinced that we got a clearer picture of what happened, but I myself have not taken part in it, says Johnny Gustafsson.

The suspected perpetrator was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He is now suspected of attempted murder as well as a serious weapons offense because he was carrying a firearm when he was arrested.

None of the injured persons have yet been able to be questioned by the police.

– The pure collection of information out in the field is complete, so now we must compile what we have done. Then we’ll see if we can get an interrogation with any of the people involved, says Johnny Gustafsson.
