St Marys reaching out for more feedback on skatepark options

Now that design options have been narrowed down to a pair, a steering committee overseeing the redevelopment of an all-wheels skatepark in St. Marys is launching a second round of public consultations this month.

Over the summer, the project’s steering committee developed donation packages, a website and promotional materials. After a soft launch of their fundraising campaign at the St. Marys Heritage Festival, those efforts will now ramp up before a final design and budget are brought back to town hall in the future.

In addition to the online survey, town staff will also be consulting directly with local youth in St. Marys over the next few weeks.

“We know the skate park is an important gathering place for local kids and teens,” said Darcy Drummond, the town’s recreation manager. “We’ll be visiting local schools this month to make sure they have a say in the final design of the park.”
