This measure was previously introduced at the Diakonessenhuis in March 2019, followed by the Meander hospitals in Amersfoort and Baarn on 1 August 2019, after which the UMC Utrecht also became smoke-free from 1 November 2020. The St. Antonius is therefore the last. “I would have liked it sooner, but in a large organization that doesn’t always go as quickly as you had hoped,” says Van den Berg. “We have been working on this for a long time and that takes a long preparation.”
