St Andrews Residence employees ratify deal

Employees of St. Andrew’s Residence in Chatham have ratified a new three-year collective agreement.

The 37 employees are represented by Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 303. The union has represented the employees since 2019.

According to a release, the deal provides improvements to shift and weekend premiums, bereavement benefits and wages.

The new contract includes wage increases of 10 per cent over the life of the contract.

“We are pleased with the enhancements we were able to secure during this round of bargaining,” Ryan Griffioen, CLAC representative, said.

“I’d like to extend a special thanks to our bargaining committee for their hard work during these negotiations.”

Formed in 1952, CLAC is a national union representing over 60,000 workers in numerous sectors of the economy.
