For Blind Berg, the consequences of both climate change and large-scale forestry are that reindeer owners are forced to keep the reindeer in enclosures, and according to him this should not be necessary.
– The reindeer is a natural and free-grazing animal and it must continue to remain so.
According to Ola Kåren, head of business development forest and management at SCA, it is the Sámi village’s responsibility to ask questions about measures that need to be taken in SCA’s forests. Matti Blind Berg does not think the Sami village should have to ask for permission.
– The Sámi village must of course have the right to take the measures they consider necessary for animal welfare and for reindeer herding, there should be no need to ask for permission. It must be obvious.
