After the release of season 2 in December 2024, Netflix’s deadly game has not said its last word.

The wait has finally come to an end. Fans of Squid Game can finally discover season 2 of the ultra-popular Korean series during the holiday season. The new episodes were posted online on December 26, 2024. On the program: Gi-Hun returns to participate in the Squid Game with a new objective, very different from all those hoping to win the 45.6 billion won. He then dives back into the survival game and will have to face new deadly and deadly tests.

But is this the end of the series? Fans of Squid Game can rejoice, because a season 3 is already in the pipeline. Be careful though, creator Hwang Dong Hyuk wanted to put an end to the story at the end of these next episodes. This will therefore be the end of the series.

While we had to wait three years between the end of season 1 and the start of season 2, the sequel will indeed see the light of day in the coming months: in fact, during the Lucca Comics and Games Festival, which was held last October in Italy, the creator of the series confirmed that the last episodes were already in the post-production phase! It was also announced that this final season will be released in 2025. Fans’ patience will therefore quickly be rewarded.

Warning, the rest of this paragraph contains spoilers for the finale of Squid Game season 1. The end of the first season of Squid Game surprised Netflix subscribers. The series ends with Seong Gi-hun’s victory at the end of the game, after Sang-woo’s suicide, to let his childhood friend win. But when he returns home with the 45.6 billion he won, he discovers that his mother is dead. The protagonist returns to his previous life, but refuses to use the money earned as tribute to Sang-woo. As he goes to the airport to find his daughter, he meets his recruiter: he leaves him a card with a telephone number. When he calls, Gi-hun receives one last order: get on the plane. However, he ends up disobeying… Gi-hun, who cannot return to the life he had before the games, then seems determined to put an end to the Squid Game. Will he participate in the new edition in order to destroy the Squid Game from the inside? On the contrary, will his disobedience put him in more danger? If the Netflix subscriber finds an answer, it will be in a season 2, if it ever sees the light of day.

Squid Game is a real success on Netflix. The South Korean series depicts violent children’s games, often resulting in death. The success is such that many children have heard of Squid Game, which is however prohibited for children under 16. In the playgrounds, some reproduce certain tests from the series, to the point of alarming the Ministry of National Education: on LCI, Jean-Michel Blanquer calls for the “responsibility” of everyone, so that the youngest do not not watch the series. “It is obvious that there is the responsibility of the platforms (…), we have seen that it is normally prohibited for those under 16, perhaps we should consider measures to allow parental control for true on such subjects.

As a reminder, however, parental control does exist on the platform. streamingin the Account tab > Profile and parental controls > Access restriction. Jean-Michel Blanquer also called for parental responsibility: “we will achieve nothing if we do not have a commitment from parents to check more about what is happening,” he also said. “Don’t leave children alone in front of screens.” School directors and college principals were alerted to the phenomenon, and some parents were therefore able to receive messages regarding this series.

In France, Squid Game is causing controversy in schools: children are reproducing games from the Netflix series. Therefore, the question arises of the age limit for viewing this South Korean program. The streaming platform mentions directly on the Squid Game page that this content is reserved for people aged 16 and over, due to its violence. So, how can we prevent children and those under 16 from watching the series?

Apart from youth accounts, it is possible to set up parental controls on your Netflix account. Simply go to Account > Profile and Parental Controls > Access Restriction. You can then change the age category (content that does not fall within the age limit imposed will no longer be accessible) or target specific content that should not appear, like Squid Game for example. Please note, if you have several profiles that your children can visit, you should impose these restrictions on all profiles.
