Why is the game closed? In the post on Facebook, the team thanks the players for the support they have given the app. However, they feel compelled and apologize for the difficult decision to take this step.

As justification they write:

Since the launch of FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS on June 30, 2016, we have strived to provide our players with an incredible and fun gaming experience every day that could surpass the day before. However, we have come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue to maintain the app experience, so we have decided to discontinue the app service.

What does the community say about this? In a post on Reddit, some fans of the game share their regrets about the end of Brave Exvius. Other commenters say that the game got worse over time. Some of the comments include:

  • Another shard that disappeared into the void, writes Redditor kiakro
  • I played it when it was first released and had a lot of fun with it. The soundtrack and story weren’t bad from what I remember. I’ve been wanting to play it again for ages. Now it’s too late for me, writes NightWind320
  • It’s crazy to think how much time and money you can invest in these things, only to see them disappear forever, notes user Jonny_Nash
  • The story of the first season was fantastic and for me was on a par with any FF in the main series. Then… it wasn’t anymore, says user Party-Special-7121
  • That’s good. Don’t get me wrong, it was funny when it came out, [..] Season 1 was great, then the story just fell from there, says user zacaholic
  • While Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is closing its doors after more than 8 years, there are players in another part of the series who are switching after many years: After 14 years, players are betraying their class in Final Fantasy XIV because they like the new one much better
