McLaren’s Oscar Piastri grabbed the pole position in the sprint race of the Formula One Brazilian GP on Saturday. McLaren starts the sprint from the front row, with Piastri beating his teammate by Lando Norris by 0.029 seconds.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was third in the sprint time trial and top of the World Championship points, Red Bull fighting for the title with Norris Max Verstappen fourth. Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas starts the race from the 15th grid.
Verstappen, who leads the World Series by 47 points to Norris, received a five-check penalty on Friday for the main event of the gp weekend, Sunday’s gp race. The reason was that Red Bull changed the engine in Verstappen’s car. It exceeded the number of allowed substitutions, so the starting square penalty was slapped.
