These were exciting days for fruit grower Wim Oskam from Werkhoven during the heat last week. On extremely hot days, his apples reached a temperature of over 40 degrees. “That is way too hot, apples will cook from that heat. The blushes burn completely and then they are worth nothing. Apples thrive in the ‘normal’ moderate climate in the Netherlands, but they can’t handle this extreme heat.”
