In Pokémon GO, Spotlight Hour starts today, January 24th, with Zapplardin. We’ll show you everything about Shinys, bonuses and the times of the event.
What is this event? Spotlight Hour runs every Tuesday in Pokémon GO. For 60 minutes, the focus is on a Pokémon selected by Niantic, which changes every week. There is also a bonus for the duration of the event that affects XP, candies or stardust.
At today’s event you will meet Zapplardin. It’s an Electric-type Pokémon from Generation 5. In addition, you can expect a bonus that brings double candies.
Spotlight Hour on January 24th – Launch, Bonuses, Shiny
When does it start? As usual, the event starts at 18:00 local time. It is then active for one hour and ends at 19:00.
What bonuses are there? During Spotlight Hour, you will encounter Zapplardin almost anywhere in the wild. The spawns are greatly increased. If you want more spawns, you can ignite a smoke.
In addition, you get twice the amount of candies for catching Pokémon.

Can you catch Shiny Zapplardin? No, the shiny version of Zapplardin is not available in Pokémon GO. You can only catch the normal version during spotlight hour today.
Is today’s spotlight worth it? Zapplardin and its further development Zapplalek are negligible as attackers. The highest development, Zapplarang, still plays in the upper midfield of the super league and hyper league.
As an attacker in raids, there are many better Electric-type Pokémon that you can use.
However, the candy bonus is still interesting today. This not only affects Zapplardin, but also other catches such as raid bosses. You can collect more candies there.
