In Pokémon GO, the spotlight hour with Sandan and Alola Sandan starts today, February 27, 2024. Here in the guide we show you everything about the times, shines and bonuses of the short event.
What kind of event is this? Every Tuesday evening, Pokémon GO starts a spotlight hour for you. For a duration of 60 minutes, the focus is on one Pokémon along with a bonus. Niantic determines which combination of Pokémon and bonus is active at the beginning of each month.
Today you will meet the Pokémon Sandan from the first generation of the game and also its Alola form. It is a Ground-type in its normal form and can evolve into Sandamer. In his Alola form, Sandan is of the Ice and Steel types.
Spotlight Hour on February 27th – Launch, Shiny and Bonuses
When does it start? As you know from previous spotlight hours, the event starts today at 6:00 p.m. local time. The content will then be active for you for one hour. The event ends again at 7:00 p.m.
Which bonuses are active? During the event period you will see wild Sandan and Alola Sandan almost everywhere in Pokémon GO. If you want to attract more of these Pokémon, you can light smoke.
You will also receive double the amount of candies for sending Pokémon. According to Niantic, another bonus should give you a higher chance of receiving special XL candies when you send them.
There was some confusion about the bonus, because the German X-page of Pokémon GO reported “double exchange candies” while the English X-page of Pokémon GO reported “double shipping candies” and “increased chance of XL special candies” as bonuses when sending” mentioned.
Today is the last hour of spotlight in February 2024. The new season will start in just a few days, which Niantic is presenting with a new trailer:
Can you catch Shiny Sandan? Yes, the dazzling forms of Sandan and Alola Sandan have been around in Pokémon GO for a long time. With a bit of luck you can catch them during the event today. But keep in mind that the chances of getting shinys are not increased during spotlight hours.
Is today’s spotlight hour worth it? Unfortunately, the Pokémon are not particularly recommended as fighters. Although Alola-Sandamer has its small niche in coaching battles in the Super League, it doesn’t really stand out in a positive way otherwise. So use the hour to clean up your Pokémon collection and get more candies.
