Together with Alexander Brouwer, the Nieuwegeiner won his first group match in two sets against the Chilean duo Grimalt/Grimalt (21-14, 22-20), but lost the second match against the first-placed Swedish couple Ahman/Hellvig (16-21, 8-21).
