Sport: The SVT Sport profiles remember Arne Hegerfors: “I am eternally grateful”

Arne Hegerfor’s passing touches. Not least with the colleagues he had over the years at SVT Sport.

Someone who looked up to Hegerfors as a youngster, and then got to work with him for many years, is SVT Sports’ Jane Björck.

– When Åtvidaberg won their SM gold in 1972 and 1973, I was at Kopparvallen with my father and brother every match. It was Arne and Bosse Hansson from TV-Sport as well. And I said “I also want to work like that dad, as a football reporter!”, says Jane Björck.

– 15 years later I got to work together with both. And I am eternally grateful for all the support I received and received as an often lonely girl in such a male-dominated sports world, not least from Arne. Arne, you were and are one of TV Sport’s greatest. And I have carried with me throughout the years the wise advice you gave me, such as “tell it like it is and just be yourself in live broadcasts”, and the great support and all the warm words you lifted me up with, says Björck.

For commentator Jacob Hård, Arne Hegerfors has been a natural role model.

– Arne has been a role model for me as a commentator. Arne’s sense of the ball as a commentator, his timing, was extraordinary and lifted broadcasts that were tried to be picked up. I will remember Arne as a very friendly person. I remember him as a person who was always friendly and who you could always come and talk to. He was always calm, says Jacob Hård.

For the presenter Mats Nyström, Arne Hegerfors was unique.

– He understood the television medium in a way that not many did either before or after him. He understood how to present things in a way that was entertaining, informative and vivid. He was the timing in an enormous description, says Mats Nyström.
