In the case of Secret Invasion, Nick Fury is not entirely innocent of the new threat to humanity. He is troubled by a radical group of shape-shifting Skrulls. Fury’s promise from Captain Marvel to find a new home for the aliens was never fulfilled. The embittered Skrull Gravik and his followers are tired of waiting. They want to start a world war through perfidious manipulation of politics and the mediato end up taking over the earth itself.

In form of Paranoia Spy Thrillers Suddenly, Nick Fury and his allies must face an enemy that can copy and replace any human. Every person that appears could be a secret Skrull. Nobody is to be trusted. And the series makes that clear from the very first scene.

Marvel thriller at Disney +: Is Secret Invasion worth it?

What sets Secret Invasion apart from all previous MCU series, is the adult root. This is a serious conspiracy thriller that eschews well-established Marvel humor almost entirely – with small but fitting exceptions thanks to Nicks Fury’s dry humor and squabbling with Talos.

The series relies on suspense, a dense atmosphere and surprising brutality. So is murdered, tortured and the fall height of the story could hardly be greater. With the entire world at stake, the series skillfully anchors Nick Fury’s character development.

Samuel L. Jackson brings us closer to Nick Fury than ever

Secret Invasion is most likely to be associated with the MCU hit Captain America: The Winter Soldier compare – albeit with far less powerful action, but more paranoia. Instead of HYDRA we now have the Skrulls who have infiltrated the system. Reptilian conspiracy theorists will be delighted.

Is Secret Invasion worth it? Anyone who appreciates political and more serious Marvel chapters such as The Winter Soldier, Civil War and, to some extent, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is well served with Secret Invasion. However, if you’re coming to the MCU for superhero fun and multiverse madness, the series might put you off.

The first two episodes of Secret Invasion are full of promise Surprises, shocking twists and an interesting and unpredictable story. If the remaining four episodes stay that way, we’re in for one of the bravest and toughest entries to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in years.
