Speri sustainability report ESG and digitalisation key factors for growth

(Finance) – The sustainabilitybroken down into its three environmental, social and governance (ESG) components, andinnovation are the key points of the Speri Sustainability Report 2022an engineering company founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Lupoi and today led by the second generation, the CEO Giorgio Lupoi and the brothers Alessio and Francesco members of the Board of Directors.

A joint stock companydespite constant growthwhich in 2022 achieved a turnover of 32 million euros, an order book of 50 million and a total workforce that will reach more than 400 resources in 2023, of which 70% are under 35 with a gender split of 42%-58%.

One of the crucial moments of 2023 concerns the transformation of Speri into SpAwhich made it possible to open up the shareholding structure to the main directors and proposed an employee ownership model, which aims to Consolidation in Italy, with offices spread across the entire territory, e to expansion abroad with initiatives launched in the United Kingdom, Africa and the United States.

Speri’s goal is to achieve a sustainable, resilient, fair and supportive future, also through new professionals with relevant international experience and collaboration with the academic world, including the La Sapienza University of Rome, Federico II of Naples and the University of Pavia.

Euolo is also crucial for the Research and Developmentwhich made it possible to invest 1 million euros in 2022, with an increase of 40% compared to 2021.

Furthermore, a project was launched to digitalize the collection, analysis and management of ESG data through the adoption of ESGeo platformwith the aim of making the company more sustainable, together with the introduction of the figure of the environmental managerand has also been formalized with the obtaining of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications.

Speri’s reference markets include hotel industrywhere it consolidates its position as a reference player for the largest international groups, with a primary role in the restructuring of the major assets in Via Veneto in Rome, and the infrastructure sectorwith specific expertise in the modernization of existing works of art, and in energy and environmental sectors with services for Enel Green Power and Alstom. In 2023 Speri has contributed to over 200 Pnrr projects and with its partners 3ti and EY Technical Services, is assisting Cassa Depositi e Prestiti in the evaluation and reporting activity.

Completed, thanks to the trust of the Sicily Region, the SMARTWAVE projectwhich saw the creation of a Web-GIS platform serving the Blue Economy, capable of assimilating the largest marine meteorological databases available and integrating them with the most accurate evolution models and cutting-edge analysis techniques. Speri is starting a new research project on the blue economy, co-financed by the Puglia Region under the “PIA Puglia”to provide a new class of services to the maritime economy.

On the social responsibility front, Speri guarantees safety in the working environmentnot only with the assumption of ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications, but also thanks to the activity of the Prevention and Protection Service Manager (RSPP).
In fact, prevention represents a decisive factor in Speri’s commitment to staff and this is demonstrated by the absence of accidents at work in 2022.

Speri also proposes himself as point of reference for talented young women and men, and boasts 70% of people under 35 and a gender split of 42%-58%. According to an internal company questionnaire, more than 85% of collaborators are satisfied with the welfare and work management policies. During 2022, over 100 new resources joined Speri, in particular women, who represented 68% of the total new resources, reflecting the company’s commitment to promoting gender equality.

Great attention to training: Speri invested 10,000 hours of training during the year 2022promoting high-quality learning programs.

It is also necessary to mention the fundraising and charity activities and the strong support for local communities, both Italian and foreign, through initiatives in Mozambique, Burkina Faso and Congo.
