Spectacular when Swift took over the Friends arena

Three hours of singing together, chaos of joy – and a revelation with a Sweden connection.

The first of Taylor Swift’s three concerts was of the more spectacular kind.

I have never played in Stockholm before, and my first show is received by this, said the world star from the stage.

In front of thousands of sequined fans, the American world artist took to the tune of the song “Miss Americana and the heartbreak prince” – while being hoisted up from the lavish stage floor. The sing-along that followed never really wanted to stop during the three-hour concert.

When it came time for songs from the album “Folklore”, Taylor Swift took the opportunity to pay tribute to the country she was in.

“Folklore” was inspired by Sweden, I imagined when I wrote it that I lived in a small cabin here, the country where the world’s best pop music comes from, said Taylor Swift from the stage.

Huge pressure

The expectations and pressure were at times enormous in the Friends arena. Most of the audience – over 60,000 people – were women, although it also included a striking number of middle-aged men. During the concert, a large part of the fans were dressed in sequins and cowboy hats.

Taylor Swift met the commitment in Swedish.

Thank you, she said in connection with one of the songs.

First of three

Friday’s concert was the first of three that the world star is holding in Stockholm this week. The concerts are part of “The eras tour” and are the only ones in the tour that are arranged in the Nordic region.

In previous concerts, Swift has played songs from different parts of her career – her “eras” – so this time too. The concert began with songs from the album “Lover”, which were then followed by songs from, among others, the albums “Fearless” and “Red”.

Thousands of international fans have traveled to Stockholm for the gigs. In total, upwards of 200,000 tickets have been sold for the three concerts.
