Robin Lehner is getting paid for the last season of his Vegas contract.
Before the start of the NHL season, a strange case of the Vegas Golden Knights’ goalkeeper has been investigated by Robin Lehnerby the NHL and the players’ association NHLPA.
Lehner, 33, did not show up for his club’s mandatory health check. He has not played since spring 2022. He underwent hip surgery in August 2022.
It was known that Lehner would not be able to play this season either, but the Golden Knights were reportedly considering options to get rid of his contract.
Sportsnet reportsthat an agreement has been reached. The NHL and the players’ association agreed that Lehner’s contract will not burden the club’s salary cap in the upcoming season. However, Lehner will receive a salary of $4.4 million in the final season of his contract.
NHL reporter by Elliotte Friedman according to the decision could be described as “like his contract has been terminated, except that he is still being paid”.
– This is a unique situation, and I know that everyone worked hard to find a workable solution. From what I’ve heard, this is the best possible solution.
