Sparkle expands its international network in South Africa

(Finance) – “Sparkle, the first international services operator in Italy and among the first in the world, announces theexpansion of its network in South Africa with the opening of two new Points of Presence (PoP) in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Fully integrated with Sparkle Seabone’s Tier-1 global IP backbone – which boasts extensive coverage in Africa – and the Equiano subsea cable connecting South Africa to Nigeria and Portugal, the new PoPs increase the reach of Sparkle’s African network . With this enhancement, Sparkle further improves the connectivity solutions offered on the continent by responding to the enormous demand for data driven by new technologies, multimedia platforms and cloud-based services that require a ubiquitous Internet connection.” Sparkle in a note.

By connecting to Sparkle PoPs in Cape Town and Johannesburg, network operators, ISPs, OTTs, content and application providers will be able to take advantage of IP transit services and high-capacity, reliable and low-latency solutions. Furthermore, customers – we read in the note – will have a complete range of IP solutions available which also include DDoS Protection services, which offers the possibility of protecting their network from attacks, and Virtual NAP which provides virtual access to the main Internet Exchanges. Point (IXP) without the need to build proprietary infrastructure.
