Five people in a “thieves’ ring” who rampaged around Spain, and became known for their crimes against the elderly, have been arrested.
They are accused, among other things, of over 100 robberies, about 30 frauds and having withdrawn over SEK 750,000 from stolen credit cards.
The police in Valencia managed to call in and arrest five perpetrators from the thieves’ league last week, a 51-year-old man and four women between the ages of 30 and 60.
The league has made a name for itself by exposing and exploiting elderly people to theft and fraud and, according to the police, is said to have operated throughout Spain.
Used false ID documents
Each member has had a role in the robberies and the league has avoided detection by traveling around and using fake IDs.
After the police were able to link a car to several of the robberies, everything was revealed and the five people could be arrested. All are accused of a total of over 100 robberies and nearly 30 frauds, among other things.
The stolen goods
The police have found some of the stolen goods in connection with house searches. Among other things, around 30 mobile phones, two toads, quantities of watches, wallets, handbags, sunglasses and jewelry and over SEK 50,000 in cash. From the credit cards that were stolen, the league is believed to have withdrawn over SEK 750,000.
