Spanish Maria turned 117 – here is the researchers’ explanation

Maria Branyas Morara had to live for 117 years and another 168 days before falling asleep as the world’s oldest person in August last year.

She had three children and eleven grandchildren before she died in Olot in northern Catalonia on August 19, 2024.
