After wandering through a number of asylum seeker centers, Masies Artien became a footballer at Argon in Mijdrecht, where he made his debut in the first team as a teenager. He turned professional at Eindhoven, and also played in Armenia for six months. After returning to the Netherlands, he ended up at Spakenburg via Montfoort, SC Genemuiden and Rijnsburgse Boys.
