“Spain used our photos without permission in the ‘All Sizes are Beach Body’ campaign”

Spain used our photos without permission in the All Sizes

Juliet FitzPatrick, who had a mastectomy as a result of breast cancer, said that the photograph of the woman seen in the poster, whose one breast was removed, used her face on another woman’s body.

FitzPatrick, 60, stated that the woman in the photograph had only one breast, whereas both of her breasts were removed.

“This painting of my body without my consent is completely against the theme of this campaign,” Fitzpatrick said.

The campaign of the Spanish Ministry of Equality aims to encourage all women to go to the beach, regardless of how they look.

The first objection to the photograph used in the campaign came on Friday. On Saturday, a second woman complained that her prosthetic leg had been removed with Photoshop in the photo.

The creator of the campaign, Arte Mapache, has apologized to British models Nyome Nicholas-Williams and Sian Green-Lord whose photos were used without permission.

“The fairest way for me to correct my mistake would be to distribute the money I received from the campaign equally to the women in the poster,” Mapache said in an apology message to Arte Mapache.

British photographer Ami Barwell, who took the photo above, says it may have been taken from another photo of the female body on the poster.

“Barwell, I understand that the person who created the poster went into my gallery and cut the pieces together. But I can’t say for sure that this is the case without hearing the artist’s statement.

Both FitzPatrick and Barwell say they noticed the poster after receiving messages on social media on Saturday.

Barwell and Fitzpatrick stated that they have contacted Arte Mapache and are still awaiting a response.

The BBC tried to reach Arte Mapache and the British Government but got no response.

The Women’s Institute of Spain declared that the campaign was a response to “the questioning of fat phobia, hatred and non-normative bodies”.
