Spain roared in the League of Nations Ronaldo and Portugal

Spain sealed its playoff spot in the Nations League. Cristiano Ronaldo and co missed a goal in Scotland.

European football champion Spain secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Nations League by beating Serbia 3-0 Aymeric Laporte, Alvaro Morata and Alex Baena with goals.

Spain was missing several key players, but still outshot Serbia in field goal attempts 29-3.

With two rounds still to go, Spain have at least sealed second place as they top the A-League group four with 10 points, ahead of Denmark (7 points) and Serbia (4 points). Group jumbo Switzerland got its opening point on Tuesday by playing a 2-2 draw at home against Denmark.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal were held without a goal at Hampden Park in Glasgow. For Scotland, the 0-0 draw brought only the first point in the first group of the Nations League, where Portugal, who had marched from victory to victory before this, won the scoring attempts 14-4.

Ronaldo had a few good chances. After the game, he appeared upset with the referee and left the field to sarcastic applause, waving arms and thumbs down.

Portugal leads the group with 10 points ahead of Croatia (7) and Poland (4).
