Spain faced France in the first European Championship semi-final in Germany.
France, which before kick-off had not scored a single game goal in the championship, had a dream start. In the eighth minute, via a fine assist by Kylian Mbappé, Randal Kolo Muani was able to head in 1–0 to Les Bleus.
But the joy was short-lived.
“Absolutely fabulous”
The 16-year-old super talent Lamine Yamal, who turns 17 on Saturday, struck with a real dream hit. Yamal’s goal not only meant an equaliser, now he is also the youngest goalscorer ever in a European Championship play-off
– I get goose bumps. It’s a top-notch finish. Absolutely fabulous, says Jens Fjellström in TV4’s broadcast.
Three minutes later, Spain decided the match when Dani Olmo made it 2–1, which was also the final score.
– This French team has not come up to par with the squad and starting eleven they have, says Fjellström.
– I congratulate Spain and say goodbye to France.
Who Spain will face in the EC final will be decided tomorrow, Wednesday. England will then play the Netherlands in the other semi-final.
