Spain Plenitude inaugurates new Villanueva II solar power plant

(Finance) – Plenitude inaugurated today in Torrejoncillo del Rey (Cuenca, Spain), in the presence of some representatives of the institutions of the Castilla-La Mancha Region, the Municipality and the Company, the Villanueva II solar plant, with an installed capacity of 50 MW.

The park it was developed on an area of ​​almost 100 hectares and is connected to the national transmission grid at the Villanueva de los Escuderos node, through the Torrejoncillo del Rey electrical substation and a 28 km high voltage overhead line. The plant, composed of over 76,000 photovoltaic modules, it will produce over 100 GWh/year of electricity, equivalent to the energy needs of over 30,000 families.

The Zaragoza Group, a company specializing in the development and construction of renewable energy plants, and Solida Renewables, a company that offers engineering and consulting services in the renewable energy sector, contributed to the development and implementation of the project.

Today, with the Villanueva II plant, we take a further step on our path to the energy transition, maintaining our commitment in Castilla-La Mancha and Spain thanks also to a project that represents an example of sustainable integration with companies and the territory. The development of the wind and photovoltaic sectors is fundamental to Plenitude’s growth strategy at a global level, which aims to reach over 4 GW of installed capacity from renewable sources by the end of 2024, to reach over 8 GW by 2027 and beyond 15 GW by 2030,” he said Mariangiola MolliconeHead of Western Europe Renewables Plenitude.

With the entry into operation of Villanueva II, Plenitude “strengthens its presence in Spain where it is present with operational wind and photovoltaic plants located in Galicia, La Rioja, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha and Murcia for approximately 430 MW, in addition to have projects currently under construction totaling over 1000 MW in Andalusia (Seville and Granada), Castilla y León (Salamanca and Soria) and Extremadura (Badajoz)”.
