Spain: in Lloret de Mar, the increasingly difficult cohabitation between Russians and Ukrainians

International reporting

Lloret de Mar beach, August 7, 2016.

Lloret de Mar, a seaside resort on the Costa Brava, has been considered the Slavic pearl of the Mediterranean for ten years. Some 2,000 Russians and 800 Ukrainians live there year-round, but in summer Slavic tourists multiply and constitute nearly 10% of visitors. But since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the good coexistence between the different communities has been faltering.
