(Finance) – A Frecciarossa 1000 debuted today, November 25, on the Spanish railwaysin service for the railway operator iryo between Madrid Atocha station and the coastal city of Barcelona. The departure – we read on FS News – took place early this morning (at 6:45) from platform 7 of the Madrid station.
iryo is in fact the commercial name of the first private Spanish operator in high speed and is participated by Trenitalia, Air Nostrum and Globalvia. 25 November will thus become a date to remember, like 18 December 2021, when the Frecciarossa crossed the Apli for the first time bound for Paris, France.
The Frecciarossa will be active from today on the Madrid-Barcelona line via Zaragoza and from 16 December also verso Valencia and Cuenca. And in 2023 there will be other news: the 31 March the service will touch the cities of Seville, Malaga, Antequera and Cordoba and the June 2nd also Alicante and Albacete.
Overall they will be 20 Frecciarossa trains in service on Spanish high-speed e 70 connections every day. The Frecciarossa is a hitachi trainwith convoys 95% recyclable and a saving 80% of carbon dioxide per passenger-kilometre. The commercial offer of iryo includes four levels of comfort (three of which are aimed at business travel): Infinita, Singular Only You, Singular and Inicial.
The arrival of the iryo operator on the high-speed service, together with its competitors Ouigo and AVLO, was reported by the Spanish newspaper El Pais, highlighting the benefits for competition and the advantages in terms of fare reduction, equal on average 43% on the Madrid-Barcelona section. All this in the face of bookings that have grown by 68%.
