Space X lost contact and lost a spacecraft shortly after Thursday night’s test flight of the giant Starship rocket.

The landing of the craft’s launch vehicle went better. After launch, it was guided back to base and then, floating in the air, could be captured by huge mechanical arms.

The spacecraft was supposed to fly in an orbit over the Gulf of Mexico to try a maneuver to release satellites.
