Space MMORPG on Steam fulfills fans’ wish for years – finally lets you play for the bad guys

Havoc is the name of the new expansion of the most famous space sandbox EVE Online and it will be released in November. The developer announced this at the fan festival celebrating the MMORPG’s 20th anniversary. Fans have been wanting the feature that Havoc brings with it for about as long.

What is Havoc? At the EVE Fanfest 2022, the developers announced that they would once again focus more on expansions for new content. Since then, the two addons Uprising and Virdian have appeared, which build on each other in terms of both their mechanics and their story.

Havoc will be the third expansion in the group that will continue this scheme. It will be published on November 14th and sets clear priorities. These promise more power for players, stronger organizations, fundamental changes in faction wars and pirates.

Furthermore, new players are better introduced to the game, there are numerous quality-of-life adjustments and new ships for the pilots of EVE Online.

We’ll add the trailer for the new expansion here as soon as it’s online.

EVE Online gets new expansion Havoc – That’s what’s in it

How does it work with the pirates? Practically since the beginning of EVE, there have been players who have wanted to ally with the Space Pirates, an NPC faction in the game. Some have already done this, but had nothing to do with it and were sometimes even shot down by their NPC friends.

With Havoc, however, that is exactly what should be possible. You can ally yourself with the pirate faction in the game and therefore work for them. If you do this, you will not only become best friends with the nasty space robbers, but you will also receive loyalty points that you can then spend in appropriate shops.

Among other things, for the total of 5 new ships that come into play with Havoc. Including 2 Battle Cruisers, 2 Destroyers, two of which will start the game next week, and the long-awaited Angel Titan.

This is said to be one of the strongest ships in the game. According to the developers, fans will need 3 to 4 weeks to build a single copy of the new Titan. Their strength is said to be enormous.

How is war changing? Players who ally themselves with pirates also have a concrete influence on the faction wars in EVE Online. Based on the front lines principle. In this “mode” two factions fight against each other and fronts, command and safe zones are formed. As a pirate, you can build a frontline base and then invade areas of both participating factions.

This adds an additional layer to the system and should cause a lot of chaos and break up the currently formed front lines somewhat.

What other changes are there? In addition to the things already described, you can expect sensible quality-of-life adjustments. This includes the ability for Corps to remotely repair and restore shields. This is also something that players have wanted for a long time.

Useful options such as auto-payment for current contracts should also come into play with Havoc. The expansion focuses on giving players more power and giving them the necessary tools to do so.

What do you think of the addon? Have you always wanted to be on the bad side anyway? Or would you personally not have needed that? Feel free to write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO.

Also announced at Fanfest was EVE Vanguard, a first-person shooter running for and in EVE Online.
