Space Marine 2 is a new shooter in the Warhammer universe that might not only be of interest to Warhammer fans.
What kind of game is this? Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is an upcoming third-person shooter for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series set in the dark Warhammer universe. It will be the sequel to the first part, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, released in 2011.
Space Marines 2 will feature a co-op campaign, 6v6 multiplayer, and the PvE mode “Operations.”
In co-op against aliens
What does the new trailer show? On May 23, a new trailer for Space Marines 2 was released that will be of interest to both Warhammer fans and newcomers to the franchise. The title looks like an interesting co-op shooter – even if you haven’t been a fan of the franchise before.
The trailer gives us new insights into the Operations mode, which can be played cooperatively with up to three players. We see a group of Space Marines fighting together against alien hordes.
Space Marines 2 then shows us some gameplay of the six classes available in the game. In addition to shooter action, we see Tyranids being put in their place with a kick in the face, a hammer or a sword. We also get a glimpse of the various ways to customize your own Space Marine visually.
Overall, Space Marines 2 looks like a shooter in the trailer, where you can have fun with your friends and kill aliens together. As we know, the recipe already worked in Helldivers 2.
You can see the trailer here:
Do Space Marines 2 and Helldivers 2 have anything in common? Yes, Helldivers 2 is characterized by the fact that you can have fun with your friends in a casual shooter action – without any competitive thoughts or the pressure to always do your best. You start a mission and shoot bugs or robots.
Space Marines 2 conveys a similar feeling in the new trailer. We see three Space Marines fighting their way through aliens with different weapons. It seems chaotic and brutal – like Helldivers.
Fighting alien hordes is of course not a concept that Helldivers 2 introduced. But Arrowhead’s co-op shooter implemented it really well. If Space Marines 2 offers a similar gaming experience, we can look forward to an interesting shooter.
While Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 looks like a pretty interesting co-op shooter, other games in the Warhammer universe don’t fare as well – even though the franchise is very popular.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, a real-time strategy game, was released in November 2023, but sales fell far short of expectations. This meant problems for the British developer studio Frontier Development: A new Warhammer game is sold for €60 on Steam: It flops so badly that the developer gets into trouble
