Now it is clear that Gareth Southgate will continue as England captain. The English Football Association, FA, announces that Southgate will continue in his job until and including the European Championship in the summer of 2024.
“We are delighted to confirm that Gareth Southgate will continue as England manager, and will lead our Euro 2024 campaign. Gareth and Steve Holland (assistant national team captains) have always had our full support, and our planning for the Euros begins now,” the FA writes in A statement.
Gareth Southgate took over the England national team in 2016 and led them to a World Cup semi-final in 2018 in Russia. In the Qatar World Cup, they went out in the quarter-finals against France after losing 1–2.
