South Korea’s arrested president Yoon Suk-Yeol believes he should be released.

He said that when he argued before the court that will decide whether he should continue to be detained.

When Yoon Suk-Yeol was arrested on Wednesday, he invoked his right to remain silent. But according to Yoon’s lawyers, he spoke for about 40 minutes before the judge, during the nearly five-hour closed-door hearing.

Yoon’s lawyers are demanding his release because they believe the arrest of the former president was based on an invalid warrant. But the Seoul District Court has rejected the lawyers’ request.

The 64-year-old former prosecutor Yoon is being investigated along with several other political and government officials for trying to carry out a rebellion.
