The South Korean opposition filed an impeachment against the interim president.
South Korea’s opposition has begun proceedings against the acting president Han Duck-soon for impeachment.
According to Reuters news agency, the opposition decided to start impeachment proceedings after Han refused to appoint Constitutional Court judges to finish the ousted president By Yoon Suk-yeol separation.
South Korea’s main opposition party, the Democratic Party (NPAD), which is in the middle of a political crisis, has accused Han of stalling the investigation.
According to the opposition, the proposal was submitted just before the plenary session of the country’s parliament. The motion is scheduled to be voted on Friday.
The party already announced on Christmas Eve that it was seeking the resignation of the interim president.
Han Duck-soo, who served as South Korea’s prime minister, became interim president on December 14 when President Yoon was impeached. The reason was Yoon’s declaration of a state of emergency in December, which has been considered an attempted coup.
