Interim President of South Korea Han Duck-soo the President of the United States has spoken Joe Biden with on the phone, Hani’s office said in a statement on Sunday.

– South Korea will carry out its foreign and security policy without disruption and strive to ensure that the alliance between South Korea and the United States is maintained and developed without wavering, the statement says.

Biden, on the other hand, reportedly told Han, among other things, that the alliance between the United States and South Korea would remain unchanged.

Han, who served as South Korea’s prime minister, became interim president after Pres Yoon Suk-yeol was impeached.

The background is last week’s conflict, where Yoon unexpectedly declared a state of emergency, which only lasted a few hours. Yoon barely survived the first impeachment vote held last week.
