South Korea’s military has targeted 180 North Korean warplanes, Seoul says. The country’s air force has responded by sending up 80 fighter jets.

In the past week, Pyongyang has conducted several robot tests near South Korean and Japanese airspace. It is taking place in parallel with large military exercises between South Korea and the United States, which the two countries said on Thursday that they are extending.

On Thursday, North Korea conducted an unsuccessful test of an intercontinental robot. A few hours later, a number of artillery pieces were fired which, according to South Korea, landed in a “buffer zone” at sea.
