New tensions in the South China Sea: Chinese coast guards fired water cannons at Filipino ships. Manila describes this action as “illegal and dangerous”. And the Philippine government is not the only one to rebel. The US State Department and Canada also condemn Beijing’s actions. The UK, Australia and the EU have expressed concern and for Japan the incident is “totally unacceptable”.
