As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz, in South Africa, host country of the largest Jewish community on the continent with 60,000 people, the memory of the Holocaust allows us to resonate with the particular history of the continent and the country. A Holocaust and genocide center founded in 2008 looks back on the tragedies of the Shoah and the Rwandan genocide.
